Kindergarten Mobiles This was a fun project with lots of fine motor practice! First we painted a paper plate, front and back, all green. As they were drying we went to the carpet to talk about texture. We passed around some different materials and talked about how they feel. Next class we cut the spiral line and watched the plate become 3D! We bedazzled them with various materials and some classes that had time added glitter (I did the glitter sprinkling). Lastly I taped their yarn hanger. I told the kids they could consider them Christmas trees, or snakes if they don't celebrate Christmas :) First Grade Beaded Snowflake Ornaments These were so fun for the kids. I was worried it would be too easy for first graders, but I was surprised to find out that most had never even touched pipe cleaners before! So connecting the parts of the snowflake was a challenge. Then as I walked around to see students adding their beads, realized that the radial pattern was also a challenge for some. In the end, I'm glad we did this little craft as it was new and different for the kids!
