Pretty much the last 3 months have been a whirlwind, which is why I am just now updating my blog with 9 weeks worth of art making. March is Youth Art Month so I always plan our art show for this month. This year we used art show professionals at Artome to organize and set up the show- and it was wonderful! Without the worry of hanging hundreds of artworks, I was able to arrange several art projects that the families could make and take home in conjunction with the show. It was a lot of fun to see the families join in on the art making! Here are some close-ups of the awesome work.

Kindergarten created some snowy collages in hopes of a Snow Day (we only got half of a Snow Day, but I'll take it!)... They turned out really cute First grade displayed their Miro-inspired abstract paintings. They learned about organic shapes and how to paint a "wash" to fill a background. We also began working on our projects for the Art Show coming up in March! Stay tuned for finished products! Lastly, the GAEA Capitol Art Exhibit showcased awesome art from all over the state, and I selected 2 students to represent Riverside!
Kindergarten collaborated on group murals to liven up the hallways. They experimented with watercolors and explored mixing color.
First grade was working on quilt squares inspired by artist Faith Ringgold in preparation for Black History Month. |
